Fridges and freezers can't be treated like ordinary scrap. The refrigerant gases in the circuit and the insulation foam are controlled, which is why the tip handles them separately and why they can't sit on a general waste lorry. We collect yours and send it to a facility set up to degas it properly.
Chest freezers in the garage, American-style units that won't turn in a doorway, and old under-counter fridges left behind by a tenant — all the same process. Empty and defrost it if you can; if it's been off for months and there's water, tell us and we'll bring absorbent sheeting.
