Lofts are where things go to be forgotten, and clearing one usually means somebody balancing on joists in the dark passing boxes down a ladder. We do that part. Our crew goes up with a light, hands everything down and carries it straight out to the lorry.

What goes on the lorry
The 1950s and 60s semis around Preston and Larkhill have small hatches on the landing, so bulky items come down in pieces and we sheet the landing carpet first. Newer Abbey Manor lofts are easier — a drop-down ladder and a straight run to the front door.
