Mattresses are the single most awkward thing in a house to get rid of. They don't fold, they don't fit in a car, the tip charges for them, and a wet one left in the garden only gets heavier. We collect from the bedroom, not the kerb.
Every mattress we take is sent for recycling, where the springs, foam and fabric are separated instead of being buried. Divan bases, headboards and bed frames can go on the same collection.

What goes on the lorry
We collect a lot of mattresses from the student and shared houses around Goldcroft and Sherborne Road at changeover, and from the first-floor flats near Penn Mill where getting a king-size down the stairwell needs two people rather than one.
