Plasterboard can't legally go in with general waste. Gypsum in landfill with biodegradable material produces hydrogen sulphide, so it has to be kept separate and sent to a facility that handles it — which is why a mixed skip full of plasterboard gets rejected or surcharged.
We collect plasterboard as its own stream: offcuts from boarding out, whole sheets from a strip-out, or ceiling board taken down during a refurb. It goes for recycling back into new board where the material is clean.

What goes on the lorry
Most Yeovil plasterboard we collect comes off the boarding stage on extensions around Abbey Manor and Brympton, and from ceiling strip-outs in the older houses off Preston Road, where old board comes down in heavy, dusty sections that need bagging before they leave the room.
